Welcome to KMT Govt. Girls College
Our Institution is a pioneer Institution of higher learning for females section in the Raigarh district. It was established in the year 1983 to spread higher education in the female section of the ST/SC/OBC-dominated eastern district of Madhya Pradesh. Initially, there was only an Art stream with the following subjects – Hindi, English, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, and Home Science when the college began with a small strength of 46 students with 6 teachers. In 1995, my M.A. in Hindi was started. Later on due to the growing inclination of girls towards Commerce, the Commerce stream was introduced in the year 1999, and PG in commerce was started in 2002. Now we need to start the Science stream also.
The institution is basically an undergraduate college, where there is no statutory provision to carry out research work. The institution has started a few non-vocational courses like Spoken English, DTP, and DCA in Computer science, Tailoring, Beautician, and short-term certificate courses to equip the students with skills so that, they can avail themselves the job opportunities generated due to fast industrialism.
